HI, my name is IM Newbie,

I have been trying to make money online for about 18 months now and my goal when I got started was to establish a thriving business online. a business that would provide me the freedom to work at home full-time and free myself from the shackles of employment. The problem I am having is that to date I have spent hundreds of dollars. OK! I’ll be honest, thousands of dollars and I am making no money.

About 2 years ago I went to a big Expo in the city. There were several keynote speakers giving advice and inspiration to successful methods of building businesses and real estate investing. I attended a seminar geared towards building an online money making business. The speaker spoke about using Ebay as your vehicle to a cash flowing business. My only experience with Ebay may have only been a purchase here and there, but I never thought about trying to sell stuff before. So after hearing this speaker I said to myself I could do that! I hear of people selling stuff on Ebay all the time, and I started thinking about starting my own Ebay business. So $600 later I purchased the Ebay business program and couldn’t wait to get started. I took the material home and dived right into it. A week later a get call from the vendor asking how I felt about my purchase. Little did I know I was talking to some clever sales team. I explained that I am in the midst of going through the material and I am anxious to put their program to the test.

This is one of a series of posts to come. This story depicts real life situations in this business. I can tell you first hand that this kind of compulsive behavior and sales strategies are common in this industry. People are so anxious to get started in business they fail to plan and therefore they plan to fail. Was this purchase part of the business plan? Better yet! Was there even a business plan to follow? The Guru’s of this business are well aware and taking your money to bank with every compulsive behavior you demonstrate. The program in this example was purchased by impulse. We not talking about a $60 ebook or $100 software program. For most people $600 is a considerable investment and should entail research on the program. The typical sales pitch you will encounter will convey urgency. Normally in the form of a call to action, with the risk of either paying a higher price later, or the offer being pulled from the marketplace all together. These are hard core sales tactics that are used in the marketplace so be careful. Once that initial sale is locked in, normally they send the heavy hitting sales team after you.
