Initial Keyword Research- BC Lesson #2

Initial Keyword Research:

Now that you have chosen a Niche, and have an idea of a couple of products you think you can promote, it is time to do some initial keyword research. You should have a notebook, or something else in place to help you organize yourself with the tasks that will be required to go through this process. I have a form in that I use , just to record the data that I will need to evaluate. Firstly, you want to take some notes to compare the two products you have selected as possibilities.

Take a moment to log the following criteria:

Product Name:

Category:

Popularity Rank:

$Sale:

Gravity:

Now I personally have a ClickBank Program Selector tool that I use, which allows me to put in the details of the criteria listed along with some additional information that will automatically generate a recommendation based upon the data I entered. The only problem is that I have no way to share this tool with you. There are a couple of resources you can to try use to measure the trend of your selected ClickBank products. However, if the initial criteria has been met you can skip the process and just select one of the products to promote. A free resource you can use is CBAnalytics. Another resource you can use is CBEngine, but their free services is limited, and it would probably be better to purchase a CB Engines Pro Membership subscription.

KEYWORD RESEARCH

Moving right along, the next step is to register for an free account with Google Adwords.  The steps to follow is one method that can be used to conduct keyword research. It will be a good exercise for you to familiarize yourself with the process. However there a more detailed way and effective method provided in    BC Lesson #4, that will generate a quality list of keywords that I highly suggest is used. Both methods are recommended, but once these methods are mastered you can probably be suffice with the method provided in BC Lesson#4

Go to “Tools” then “Keyword Tool”. Select the Website content option and enter the URL of the product you are promoting. Google has a lot of great resource tools that are free. Now Google will provide all the related keywords for that URL site, broken down into categories. You will see at the bottom of each category an “Add All” link. Take a moment and add every word which will be displayed on the right hand side of the page. Next click on “Avg Search Volume”, which will sort each section from highest volume to lowest. Now open your Notepad/Wordpad (.txt) application, and copy and paste the #1 keyword term sorted by volume for each section. Once you have copied all the keywords, conduct a Google search and enter each keyword. Copy all the URL’s from the AdWords ads that relate to your product, and copy and paste them to your Notepad/Wordpad document.

Please Note: Only use the URL’s from the paid advertising on the right hand side of the front page only. Also omit any ads you see from Ebay, Amazon, and other major advertisers.

Now take your list of URL’s and go back to Google Adwords “Keyword Tool”. Enter each URL, one at a time and add all the keywords they provide. Now that you have added all the keywords, scroll down and click the “Download These Keywords” link. Save these keywords to your txt. file we will be digging for some more keywords in the upcoming steps.

This can be a painful task if you have never done Keyword research before. But keywords are going to be one of the main ingredients to the success of your campaign efforts. So take the the time to go through this painful exercise and absorb everything that I have just provided you. That’s all for now.
